SQUID - Swimming Queers United in Denver
SQUID Swim Team was founded in 1992 by a group of athletes preparing for the 1994 Gay Games. More than 80 members now participate in our swimming program. Recent accomplishments include 5th place at the 2009 and 2010 COMSA SCY Championships and 1st place at the Inaugural 2009 Rocky Mountain Autumn Gold Rush Invitational and the 2010 COMSA LCM Championships! Our members include top-notch competitive and fitness swimmers, open water swimmers and triathletes. Some of our members simply like to join in our social activities. We welcome anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity to our workouts. Whatever the reasons for joining, you'll find that we have great workouts, fun social events, and exciting competitions. We participate in local meets with other masters teams in Colorado, and national and international competitions with other lesbian/gay swim teams. He will be coaching Tuesday nights @ Montlcair Rec. Center 7:30 – 8:30pm beginning next Tuesday 3/20. We are very excited to have him back! Some members already know him, but if you do not, please introduce yourself. BEERBUST FUNDRAISER The first (of two) BeerBust dates is coming up THIS Sunday April 22nd! We need a minimum of 20 pourers to help us out. This is always a fun event and one of the main contributors to the SQUID piggy-bank. Feel free to wear your suit if the weather cooperates. The FUN-draising begins at 3:45pm. PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME! Please e-mail Roger Burleigh: barracuda1swim@yahoo.com to sign up. There will also be a sign up sheet at practices this week. FUNDRAISER PARTICIPATION NEEDED We have been invited again to participate in the Krewe of Chaos' Boots N' Boxers fashion show fundraiser. This year, it will be held at Casselman's Bar & Venue on May 19. This year's director will be Shannon McCarthy. As in previous years, SQUID will receive 25% of the money we raise in sales.
